Delicious and moist vanilla cupcakes perfect for any occasion. Easy to make with simple ingredients and a creamy vanilla frosting.

Ingredients

Dry ingredients

  • 1.25 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 0.25 teaspoon baking soda
  • 0.25 teaspoon salt

Wet ingredients

  • 113 grams unsalted butter, softened
  • 150 grams granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon sunflower oil
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • 1 large egg (at room temperature)
  • 0.25 cup full fat sour cream (at room temperature)
  • 0.5 cup whole milk (at room temperature)

Frosting ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 4.5 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 tablespoon pure vanilla extract
  • 4 tablespoons heavy cream or whole milk

Instructions 

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line cupcake tins with paper liners.
  • Mix dry ingredients in a bowl. In another bowl, beat butter and sugar until fluffy. Add eggs and vanilla, then sour cream and milk. Combine wet and dry ingredients.
  • Divide batter into liners and bake for 15 minutes. Cool completely.
  • Prepare frosting by beating butter, powdered sugar, vanilla, and cream until smooth. Frost cooled cupcakes.
