This easy rice recipe yields perfectly cooked, fluffy white rice every time, perfect as a side dish or base for many meals.

Ingredients

Rice

  • 1 cup long grain white rice
  • 2 cups water or chicken broth
  • 1 tablespoon butter or olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (optional)

Instructions 

  • Rinse the rice under cold water until clear.
  • Heat butter or olive oil in a saucepan over medium heat.
  • Add rice and toast for 1-2 minutes, stirring.
  • Pour in water or broth, add salt, and bring to a boil.
  • Reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 15-18 minutes.
  • Let stand 5 minutes, then fluff with a fork and serve.

Notes
