This quick and easy flatbread is perfect for a delicious snack or meal, made without yeast and cooked right on your stovetop.
Ingredients
Dough
2
cups
all-purpose flour (or a 50/50 mix of all-purpose and whole wheat)
2
teaspoons
baking powder
1
teaspoon
salt
1
cup
plain yogurt (Greek or regular) or milk/water as a substitute
1
tablespoon
olive oil (plus a little extra for cooking)
Optional toppings
1
teaspoon
garlic powder, dried herbs, butter for brushing, or ghee
(optional)
Instructions
Mix flour, baking powder, salt, and optional herbs in a bowl.
Stir in yogurt and olive oil; add water or milk if needed to form a soft dough.
Knead briefly until smooth, then rest for 10 minutes.
Divide dough into 6–8 balls, roll into rounds about 6–7 inches in diameter.
Heat a skillet over medium heat, brush with oil, cook each flatbread 1–2 minutes per side until golden.
Stack and brush with butter or ghee; serve warm.
Notes
Keep the dough slightly sticky for easier rolling, and cook on medium heat to prevent burning.
