Ingredients

Filling

  • 6 medium apples such as Granny Smith or Honeycrisp (peeled, cored, and sliced)
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

Crumble Topping

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups rolled oats
  • 1 1/2 cups light brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, chilled and cubed

For Serving

  • Vanilla ice cream or whipped cream (optional)

Instructions 

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch baking dish.
  • Mix sliced apples, sugar, cinnamon, and lemon juice; spread in the dish.
  • Combine flour, oats, brown sugar, and salt; cut in butter until crumbly.
  • Sprinkle crumble over apples and bake for 40-45 minutes until golden.
  • Cool for 10 minutes, then serve warm with ice cream or whipped cream if desired.

Notes

Use cold butter for a crisp topping.
