Ingredients
Pie Crust
3tbspunsalted butter
1.25cupssemi-sweet chocolate chips
0.75cupsugar
3tbspcornstarch
0.25tspsalt
2tbspcocoa powder
2cupsmilk
3egg yolksbeaten egg yolks
1tspvanilla extract
Topping
1cupheavy whipping cream
0.25cuppowdered sugar
1tspvanilla extract

Instructions
Bake and cool the pie crust.
In a bowl, melt butter and chocolate chips together; set aside.
Whisk sugar, cornstarch, cocoa, and salt in a saucepan. Gradually add milk and cook until thickened, about 1 minute.
Temper egg yolks with hot custard, then return to saucepan and cook 1 more minute. Remove from heat, stir in vanilla, then strain over melted chocolate and butter. Cool and pour into crust. Chill for 4 hours or overnight.
Whip heavy cream with vanilla and powdered sugar until stiff peaks form. Spread over chilled pie and garnish with chocolate curls if desired.
