Delicious and easy-to-make apple pie bars with a buttery crust and spiced apple filling, perfect for a sweet treat.

Ingredients

Dough

  • 2.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 0.5 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 large egg

Apple Filling

  • 4-5 medium medium apples, peeled and thinly sliced
  • 0.75 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 0.5 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • Pinch salt

Topping

  • 0.5 cup oats
  • 0.5 cup all-purpose flour
  • 0.25 cup brown sugar
  • 0.5 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 0.25 cup unsalted butter, melted

Instructions 

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Mix flour, sugar, and salt; cut in butter until coarse. Add egg and vanilla, combine.
  • Press two-thirds of dough into a greased 9x13-inch dish; set aside remaining for topping.
  • Mix sliced apples with sugar, lemon juice, spices, cornstarch, and salt; pour over crust.
  • Combine oats, flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, and melted butter; sprinkle over apples.
  • Bake for 45-50 minutes until bubbly and golden. Cool before cutting into bars.

Notes

For extra flavor, serve with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream and drizzle with caramel sauce.
